Bellamy Eyecare wins Family Business of the Year
We are delighted to share that Bellamy Eyecare has been named Family Business of the Year in the Business Awards UK regional awards in Leicester.
As a family-run independent optician serving Leicester and Irthlingborough, this award means a great deal to us. It recognises the values that have always shaped our approach: taking the time to listen, building lasting relationships and treating every patient with the same care we would want for our own family.
What being a family business means to us
For Alan and Tracey Bellamy, being a family business is about much more than ownership. Both of Alan’s daughters have supported the practice at different times, with Arianne helping on reception from the age of 13 and Natasha regularly assisting with book-keeping.
More importantly, those family values shape the way every patient is welcomed, listened to and cared for.
Patients often see the same optician at each visit, allowing our team to understand their eye health, vision needs and lifestyle over the long term. That continuity helps people feel known rather than processed and means even small changes in their eyes are more likely to be noticed early.

The Leicester practice has been caring for patients since 1946, while the Irthlingborough practice became part of the Bellamy family in 2002. Over the years, both practices have built lasting relationships with local families, with some patients returning across generations for eye care they know they can trust.
